Suarez y el Decó a través del tiempo

A close look at the exclusive meeting at the Casa Palacio of interior designer Luis Puerta as part of Suarez's 80th anniversary.

The splendid palace house of interior designer Luis Puerta in Tendilla (Guadalajara) became the setting for an exclusive celebration on the occasion of Suarez's 80th anniversary.

All attendees enjoyed, among many other moments, a jewelry workshop in which they were able to observe first-hand the great influence of Art Deco on Suarez jewelry, learn about its raw materials and its selection process. A 360º experience that allowed us to appreciate the dedication and knowledge that exists behind each of our jewelry.

Un enclave únido del S.XVIII

An exceptional moment in which prominent members of Madrid's high society, VIPs, content creators and directors of the main media witnessed a unique retrospective on the great influence of art deco on our designs over eight decades of history.

Mirando las joyas

The characteristic aesthetic codes of this artistic movement, which gained particular popularity between the 1920s and 1940s, had a great influence on the vast majority of the decorative arts of the time.

The visual arts did not escape its influence either, which is why jewellery, and therefore Suarez's creations, were greatly influenced from the outset, even becoming established as icons in their own right over the course of time.

The roots of art deco stem directly from art nouveau and its oriental influence, symbolism, the Pre-Raphaelite movement and the search for new artistic expressions.

However, while art nouveau is characterised by the use of fluid, nature-inspired forms and highly detailed designs with animalistic, human or plant icons, art deco focuses entirely on geometric shapes, straight lines, angles and constant symmetry.

A style in which the structure itself is the protagonist of the jewellery, with designs that embrace the geometrization of shapes based on straight lines that delve into abstraction.

Another of the great keys to art deco that we continue to see reflected today in some of our creations is the use of other hard stones (onyx, coral, opal...) as main stones without leaving aside the main gems (diamond, ruby, sapphire and emerald). This results in a very striking contrast of colours and textures, sometimes even including enamels or reliefs on the metals themselves to create a greater sense of volume.

El saber hacer heredado

With the passage of time since its great heyday, the presence of art deco in the world of jewelry has decreased due to the changing pace of trends. Even so, during 80 years of history, we have remained faithful to some elements of this artistic trend, even fusing them with our codes to give life to great icons of the Suarez imagination.

A premise that we add to our concern to adapt to each moment without leaving aside the pillars that support our house.
