Solidarity Xmas Tree by Suarez with Ines Ybarra

Discover the creation process of our tree made at La Real Fábrica de Cristales de La Granja in collaboration with the artist Inés Ybarra for the 8th edition of the Solidarity Xmas Tree charity event.

This 2024 Suarez has joined forces with some of the most relevant luxury brands on the national and international scene to participate in the Solidarity Xmas Tree. A solidarity event in which each brand is responsible for giving life to unique and exclusive Christmas trees to auction them off for charity.

From November 19 to 25, our boutique at Serrano 62 has become one of the stops on this solidarity route where you can admire the majestic work that we have created with the same love with which we create each of our jewels.

To bring this very special work to life, we have counted on the collaboration of the artist Inés Ybarra, whose creativity, imbued with our essence and DNA, has served as a guide for the Master glass blowers of La Real Fábrica de Cristales, to give life to each of the exclusive and delicate pieces that make up our proposal for this edition of the Solidarity Xmas Tree.

Below, you will find our interview with the artist in which you can discover how the process of inspiration, creation and execution of the work was:

What does a jewelry house like Suarez represent for you?

For me, Suarez represents excellence, tradition, family and personalized treatment. The difference between Suárez and other jewelry brands is that when you enter their boutiques, you enter their home. Everything is made with great care and love.

What were the main sources of inspiration for bringing the concept of the Solidarity Xmas Tree to life?

The main inspiration that we used to bring the concept of the Solidarity Xmas Tree by Suarez to life is the wax tree, an essential element in the history of jewellery that is used to create pieces using the lost wax casting technique.

This automatically led me to Alexander Calder's mobiles and the interaction that his works require.

It's exactly what we wanted, to return to the world of interaction through these figures with different shapes and colours, so that the viewer can gradually discover the tree.

How have you worked to reflect this symbiosis of concepts between the world of glass, jewelry and the Christmas tree?

It has been a very organic process. It has been developed by drawing a lot, rethinking a lot, without fear of change and with a lot of communication between the different worlds. In the end, the world of glass and jewelry are closely linked, both are creative, artisanal and offer endless possibilities.

What has been the experience of working directly with the master glassblowers of an institution as renowned as the Real Fábrica de Cristales de la Granja?

I have learned a lot from them and from the passion they have for the material. Watching them blow pieces of all sizes and do everything in an artisanal way has been a super nice process. They don't set limits. Despite having an important historical background, they are always looking to do new things.

What has been the most striking thing about the process?

Losing the fear of hot glass and being able to understand the material and its infinite possibilities.

How has it been working with the Suarez team on this project?

Working with Suarez has been super easy. They are super respectful of creative ideas and every time they have intervened it has been to contribute. For me the process has been super nice because the tree has been created through communication between us, it has not been just drawing and delivering. Rather we have been developing it as a team.

How would you explain the concept of the tree?

The tree is in constant transformation. Either by the daylight that reflects on the glass pieces creating a play of light and shadow or at night where the tree also works as a lamp.

What is your relationship with the world of jewelry?

What I have always liked most about jewelry is the creativity behind each piece. I like to understand the jewel as a work of art or a sculpture rather than as a mere accessory.

What conclusions do you draw after having participated in this project?

How beautiful it is to work as a team and to be able to enjoy the process. The Suarez team has supported me a lot at all times and they are the ones who have really made this tree a reality.

For us, as a Spanish jewellery house whose pillars are based on craftsmanship and know-how, it has been a unique and very special opportunity to be able to participate in this beautiful social work to help the elderly through different support programmes and hospitalised children who are alone.

At Suarez we would like to personally invite you to take part in the Solidarity Xmas Tree charity route to discover, among other things, the tree that we have lovingly created in collaboration with Inés Ybarra and the expert hand of the master glass blowers at La Real Fábrica de Cristales de La Granja.

We look forward to seeing you at our boutique on Serrano 62.
